An example of a modern expressionistic film is Crank . The film is about a professional hit man, Chev Chelios, who tries to get revenge on the men who poisoned him. The film focuses on the under world of society, where murder is a job, and looked upon as just another act in an ordinary day. Clearly this is an attack on dominant ideology. Murder by itself is not only illegal, but also a social taboo, but when someone murders for job it has an even more negative characteristic attached to it. In Crank, the audience is supposed to sympathize with a murderer, as he goes about killing more people for revenge. The poison Chelios has been injected with alters his perception of the world; his vision becomes blurred, his sense of time is lost, and his sound perception becomes distorted. The only thing that keeps him alive is natural or synthetic adrenaline. When his body becomes low on adrenaline, such as the scene in the taxi cab, he begins to hear the driver talk in a low, inhuman voice. The camera takes subjective shot and we see through
