Abstract
Psychology is a science that studies the different behavior and mental processes. Over the
years, it has had different points of view, different perspectives such as psychoanalytical
perspective, behavioral perspective, humanistic psychology, cognitive perspective, evolutionary
perspective, biological perspective, sociocultural perspective, and biopsychosocial perspective.
In this essay, I will be making a reference about the psychoanalytical and humanistic
perspectives, their theorist, their contribution to Psychology, how these are applied in life, and
how these perspectives have changed my perception of Psychology.

A PSYCHOANALYTICAL AND HUMANISTIC PERSPECTIVE OF PERSONALITY
Most people use the term "personality" to explain the characteristics and social skills of a
person. However, psychologists use the term "personality" to explain the characteristics that
persuade the way a person acts, thinks, and feels in different situations of life (Licht, Hull, &
Ballantyne, 2017). The studies of personality include various aspects of human behavior. There
are four different approaches to explain personality, which are psychodynamic, behavioral,
biological and humanistic views.

Abraham Maslow responds to a humanistic perspective, an approach suggesting that
human nature is by and largely positive, and the human direction is toward growth. According to
