Brittany Morgan English 10 4th period The Black Plague As you can see, millions of things occurred during a tragic time period to change the world completely following the black plague. It affected everyone all across the world socially and economically. This epidemic caused everyone to abandon their loved ones and take themselves out of the populated areas everywhere. In the early 1330’s, a deadly outbreak on the bubonic plague, also known as the “Black Death”, occurred in China.("The Black Death: Bubonic Plague.": Medieval Ages) The plague officially started in Britain in 1348. It was known as the “Black Death” because blacks spots would appear on the surface on the skin. It mainly affected rodents, but fleas can carry the disease as well. The bubonic plague spread very expeditiously and is very contagious. No one could find a cure for this deadly plague. The bacterial disease is caused by Yersinia Pestis. When you’re quickly announced and treated properly, the plague may be successful controlled with antibiotics such as streptomycin and tetracycline, reducing mortality from 60% to 15%.
