Section 1: Lesson Preparation Teacher Candidate Name: Crystal Goden Grade Level: Kindergarten Date: 09/17/19 Unit/Subject: (ELA) English Language Arts- Reading Informational text Instructional Plan Title: “My Five Sences” By Aliki Brandenburg, 1991 Lesson Summary and Focus: This lesson will introduce students to their five senses through a variety of activities. During the lesson students will work in small groups, independently and also as a whole class. Students will learn new facts about their five senses as well as reflect on prior knowledge. Teacher will asses their prior knowledge and then read the book to them. Teacher will introduce new vocabulary words, ask questions and introduce activities. Classroom and Student Factors/Grouping: The class has 22 first grade students: Gender- 12 male students and 10 female students. Ethnicity - There are 13 minority students Parent Involvment -15 students have low parental involvement 7 students have high parental involvement with 4 having very high involvement SES -3 students are high Social-Economic status(SES), 10 Middle SES and 9 Low SES Internet access at home - 8 students do not have access to internet at home ELL - 2 students are ELL (English Language Learners) IEP/504 -1 student has an IEP/504 Tier - 1 student is Tier 3 in reading 3 students are Tier 2 in reading Reading level- 4 students are reading below grade level 2 are reading above grade level 16 students are reading at grade level *with this lesson students reading below grade level or have a IEP/504 will need extra help with comprehending the academic language and vocabulary words with this being a scientific lesson and story. Small group and partnered learning will be offered along with visuals and more academic items. events and characters Identify main topic of the texts Read informational text with support and prompting Ability to show understanding of features of print.
