Isaac Merritt Singer made a significantadvancement to the sewing machine.It could sew 900 stitches per minute.He changed the original design of thecircle to a straight line.He laterbecame the founder of what becameone of the first American multinationalbusinesses, the Singer SewingMachine Company.
