It was written in 1978 to be a part of of 32 poems collection,The way she expresses herself in so many ways. This poem is a declaration of her determination to success. This poem was a beacon ofhope for others oppressed. With thesassines of this poem you understand and feel the tone. Because this poemwas written about prejudice andoppression you can feel and see how through it all Maya will rise above it all. II.Choose elements of the artifactthat you believe are most important to how you experience it and explain why.
