1 Disaster Recovery Plan Key Elements of the Disaster Recovery Plan A disaster recovery plan is essential to business organizations in that it helps in preparing the personnel, procedures, locations, and equipment for the restoration of computer systems in case of an unexpected disaster. A disaster such as a cyber-attack on Loila Corporations will require a DRP that will ensure that the computer data is backed up at an offsite location. This will ensure that all customer, vendor, and other types of data which are essential for the continuation of normal workflow are kept safe from any harm. At the offsite location, there will be several kinds of hardware, including additional workstations for the key staff members who are equipped with the necessary knowledge to back up and restore data whenever a disaster strikes. It will also serve as a temporary workplace until the recovery process is over and normal business can resume at the former workstations (Berke, Cooper, Aminto, Grabich, & Horney, 2014). Internal, External, and Environmental Risks There are several threats which can pose dangers to organizational data or critical information. The most common threats, which can be either natural or man-made, include floods, storms, earthquakes, and other naturally occurring disasters. The man-made risks entail cyber-attacks which can either be in the form of hackings, viruses, or other malicious acts by either customers or disgruntled employees.
