REGULAR VEHICLE SAFETY CHECKS 4 We can all forget to do important things from time to time but it’s essential that you carry out regular checks on your vehicle to ensure that you stay safe on our roads. Here is a simple list of things to check on a weekly basis. Just remember the acronym ‘ POWER ’. Always use the correct fuel. Consider only partially filling up the tank, unless of course you have a long drive ahead of you. Driving on a full tank of fuel is not as economical. Check your oil levels when the car is cold. ‘P’ stands for PETROL (fuel) ‘O’ stands for OIL P.O.W.E.R! REMEMBER Scan me and find out how to correctly check your oil levels. Lights - Make sure your lights are clean and check the bulbs regularly to ensure they are all working correctly. Wiper blades – Check for any splits or damage that may leave streaks when in use. Tyres - Ensure your tyres are correctly inflated and have suitable tread depth. Consider replacing your tyres before the winter months as you’ll need a decent tread depth in wet conditions. Remember that if you’re carrying a heavy load you will need to adjust your tyre pressures accordingly.
