Surname 1 Name Professor’s Name Institution’s Name Date Economic and Social Significance of the American Revolution in the 18 th Century The American Revolution of the 18th century was a critical moment in the history of the United States as it paved the way for the country’s independence from the British colonialists. The organized political and military rebellion by the coalition of 13 England’s North American colonies against the British imperial government began in 1763 and lasted for two decades, ending with the signing of the Treaty of Paris 1783. The revolution began with the opposition of taxes levied by the imperial government on the colonies without taking into consideration their views and representation in decision-making. The political disagreements that followed this opposition of taxes started a cycle of defiance by the colonies and punitive laws by the colonial government that triggered an all-out military war. George Washington, Charles Lee and Benedict Arnold are amongst the notable political and military leaders who led the American colonies in engaging the British forces and their allies in many battles over the two decades that finally ended with the independence of the colonies. Over the years, historians and scholars have written many materials regarding various aspects of the revolution and including its social and economic significance to the American society. The American Revolution impacts the late 19th century American society through economic growth, social freedom political independence. Economic growth of the American Revolution in the late 18th century American society was a remarkable improvement in the business environment within the thirteen colonies that declared and attained independence from the British colonial government.
