Topic: The Effect of Poverty on YouthScholarly (Peer-reviewed) Journal: Roy, Amanda L., et al. “‘If They Focus on Giving Us a Chance in Life We Can Actually Do Something in This World’: Poverty, Inequality, and Youths’ Critical Consciousness.”Developmental Psychology, vol. 55, no. 3, Mar. 2019, pp. 550–561.EBSCOhost, doi:10.1037/dev0000586.-The finding tool that was used was Academic Search Complete. It’s a platform on EBSCOhost. I used it in high school so I am familiar with it and how to use it. It’s easy to narrow down the articles and find exactly what you need. -I put “poverty in youth” in the search bar. That came up with way too many options, so on the side I checked the box for scholarly journals and full text. This way, I knew what I was looking for fit the guidelines. It also narrowed down the options where I could look through all of them and find the one I felt fit best to my topic. -I used a few different search strategies. I made sure it was full text, so it would give me the most information possible. I also added “in youth” when I looked up the phrase “poverty” because I want it to be specific. I then narrowed it to scholarly articles only, soI knew it was a reliable source. -The authors are reliable because they are developmental psychologists. They focus on the developmental growth of children. They would be very reliable resources for this topic because they would see the emotional effects of children who live in poverty. They would also notice their physical development and how it differs from children not living in poverty.
