Rituals 3 Eucharist Known as holy communion, stands as symbolism of the Last Supper. At the original Last Supper, Jesus ate bread and wine, and instructed his disciples to do the same in memory of him. Today’s Eucharistic celebrations act as a reenactment of this scenario, reminding the everyone of the sacrifices of Jesus Christ. Eucharist begins with the introductory rites where people gather to listen to the words of God and readings. This is followed by readings from the Gospels by the members of the congregation and the First and Second readings are explained by the priest. Next, the receiving of the Eucharist begins where the bread is blessed and distributed to the congregation through the ministers. This is then ended by the priest’s final blessing.
