INTRODUCTION This project is written on a research on the World Wide Fund for Nature which as a non- governmental organization. The purpose of this project is to discuss the organization’s history, vision and mission, operation and its management such as planning, controlling and the processes followed. The methods used to meet the objectives included a visit to the University of the South Pacific’s library in Lautoka, conducting interviews and doing research. The findings show that the World Wide Fund for Nature organization has set out a five year strategic plan and has also set out the certain years and areas to go about it along with its processes and a controlling management to help achieve the organization’s long term goal. This project shall also make recommendations.

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW The World Wide Fund for Nature is an international non-governmental organization founded on the 29 th of April, 1961 which works in the field of preservation of the wilderness, and to reduce the impact of human activities on the environment. It was formerly named the World Wildlife Fund, which remains its official name in Canada and the United States. The founders of this organization are Prince Philip of Edinburgh, Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld, Godfrey Rockefeller, Julian Huxley, Edward Nicholson, Peter Scott and Guy Mounfort, and the organization is currently being directed by Marco Lambertini who is the Director General. The organization has achieved a few awards which include an MTV Australia Good Karma Award and a Peabody Award. The abbreviated form for the World Wide Fund is WWF and its headquarters is situated in Gland, Switzerland. The organization’s vision and mission statement is: “To stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature, by: conserving the world’s biological diversity.”

RESEARCH METHOD 1.0 INTERVIEWS Members of the World Wide Fund for Nature organization were approached and 30 interviews were conducted, and the ages of the respondents ranged from 20 to 45 years old, consisting of 20 males and 10 females. The respondents were selected at random and the interview questions were designed in a way that the results shows the organization’s planning process and controlling strategies with its purpose, advantage and disadvantage, and to see the suggestions that the respondents have recommended for the organization to improve on.
