ORGANIZATIONAL SYSTEMS & QUALITY LEADERSHIP TASK 1 A. Understanding of Nursing Quality Indicators. Nursing quality indicators (NQI) or nursing-sensitive indicators (NSI) are used in identifying, developing, improving, and structuring of patient care processes. Per the nursing sensitive indicators video, “NSI’s are evidence-based and correlate to the improvement of patient outcomes and satisfaction (2018)”. If the nurses in the scenario had used NSI in the development of their processes or standards of care, they could have prevented or corrected the occurrence of pressure ulcers in there patient. NSI’s can help bring awareness to the risk factors that contribute to the development of pressure ulcers and the practices to prevent pressure ulcers in restraint patients. In the scenario, there does not appear to be a restraint process in place or the staff members are just not following the process. Nor does it indicate that they had tried other means, like re-orienting the patient. Restraints are to be used as a last resort (shortest timeframe
