TEENS, DRUGS, AND ALCOHOL Teens Exposed to Drugs and Alcohol The notorious high school years is the critical time for teenagers acting out, trying new things and claiming freedom. As teens evolve into adulthood, they usually become enticed by adult actions. At any age, individuals need to be loved and acknowledged by people around them. This is particularly valid for teenagers who are experiencing new challenges and stressors in their transition from adolescence into adulthood, trying to find what their identity is. (Tackett, 2019) Some teens seek the use of Marijuana, opioids, liquor, or different illegal drugs as a method for adapting to pressure, trying to fit in groups where alcohol and drugs are used, and disobeying authority. (National Institute of Drug Abuse, 2014) The reasons why teens get involved with drugs or alcohol vary; many do it just to try it, others friends pressure them; others because they are bored, peer pressure, and family reputation of drug use or liquor addiction.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
