In Jean Kilbourne's article, “The More You Subtract, The More You Add” she argues how mass media affects self-image specifically in females that can lead to health and mental health issues as they are trying to conform to the “norm” shown in advertisements. Overall, I believe I was convinced by Jean Kilbourne’s argument. Her use of real-life examples, such as advertisements, and incorporating studies that had statistics strengthening her claim. Additionally, including her personal encounters with herself being a woman, as well as conversation with other girls/women. 2.
