The Presidential Election of 1860 produced 4 candidates for president. They were: Douglas (Northern Democrat) John C. Breckinridge (Southern Democrat) Bell (Constitutional Union Party) Abraham Lincoln (Republican) 5. The split in the Democratic Party guaranteed a win for Abraham Lincoln and the new Republican Party in the Election of 1860.
