Eunice Lao – S00225013 Reflection: Medication Administration Description NRSG140 is a unit which specifically prepares nursing students for clinical placement and working with real patients. There are numerous new skills that I have developed in the duration of my practical classes – medication administration being one of them. Holly – the class teacher, intricately demonstrated the correct way of administering medication, putting emphasis on the three checks that needed to be done throughout the procedure. She explained the importance of verbally saying the checks and even exaggerating it in order for the examiner to know that we’ve done them correctly when being assessed. The students – including me, were then given the opportunity to practice this skill. Firstly, I introduced myself to the Nicholas – my patient, and also explained what I was going to do and gained consent. I then asked the patient to state their name, date of birth and any known allergies while checking their identification on their wrist band, as well as on the medication chart. I went over these details again for the second time. Next, I looked at the list of medications prescribed and looked for the containers in the medicine cabinet. I checked the name of the medicine and expiration date, and made sure it matched the information on the chart.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
