Computing Energy in Excel This assignment is an example of the Law of Conservation of Energy. A trampolinist is in the air so the total energy of the system is constant. During the up phase of the motion the trampolinist gains height and potential energy and loses vertical velocity and kinetic energy. On the downward phase of the motion the trampolinist loses height and potential energy and gains vertical velocity and kinetic energy. At any point in the motion the sum of kinetic and potential energy are equal to the total energy of the system. Use the attached Excel spreadsheet to compute height and velocity of the diver with projectile motion equations and energy with kinetic and potential energy equations. Then plot xy scatter graphs of time, height and velocity and time, kinetic, potential and total energy. Here is the initial information: A 50 kg trampolinist takes off with an initial vertical velocity of 3.8 m/s and an initial height of 2.3 m.
