1. Polysyndeton- a literary technique in which conjunctions are used repeatedly in quick succession. 2. Asyndeton- The practice of omitting conjunctions between words, phrases, or clauses. 3. Antithesis- a figure of speech in which an opposition or contrast of ideas is expressed by parallelism of words that are the opposites of each other 4. Allusion- A figure of speech which makes brief, even casual reference to a historical or literary figure, event, or object. 5. Anecdote- A brief story or tale told by a character in a piece of literature. 6. Contradiction- A direct opposition between things compared; inconsistency. 7. Oxymoron- a figure of speech that combines two contradictory elements. (i.e. jumbo shrimp) 8. Syllogism- A form of deduction. 9. Foil- A person or thing that makes another seem better by contrast 10. Epitaph- a phrase or form of words written in memory of a person who has died, especially as an inscription on a tombstone.
