9-12-19 1650 Mission discussion California is now viewed by health by enlarge: or the California dream In the 18 and 19th century our historical view of Cali is viewed the opposite way. They were very sick, and all the diseases were transported or were just spread out. Maybe it has to do with stress getting sick, and then contaging everyone The living conditions are horrible and they were basically living on top of each other which caused diseases to spread. 1760-19th century Does Not show the bad side of the diseases and stuff It shows fertility of the land It seems like a very happy place. The people seem harmless and grandfatherly. (same age) Not a single Indian in sight San Gabriel Mission The stairwell of the mission is very famous and even until this day is attracted to this place There are 21 missions There are a bunch of perspectives that people relate it to. People didn’t know what was going on in Cali. But there were way too many diseases happening. Practice people towards Catholisims, and the Spanish language, reasonable, taking them from their place in nature and turning indigenous into people Issues about mission system There are a lot of Missions making it hard for them to control it Indians rebelled Natives always outnumbered the Mexicans and Spaniards Mission is looked at as taking the devil out of people and making the person that started was a saint Junipero Sarrah Is one of the most famous Californian in the 1850’s There’s this guy that he thought the pain would make him holier Important: The demography (Rough numbers; focus of the curve) We think they were 300,000 natives there were a stockson By the 1820's the mission system is being dismantled spiritually and in general 200k now
