Grace Kim August 26, 2019 Soul Winning I. Hi everyone, I’m Grace Kim, and today I’ll be teaching on the topic of soul winning: our favorite go-to bible study. I hope most of us are familiar with soul winning, and so maybe this can encourage us to go out and do what we know we should do. For those of us who aren’t so sure, God willing we will be knowledgeable by the end of this teaching. A. I prepared 4 points, what, who, when or where, why 1. Starting off, the 1st point will be “What is soul winning?” . Soul winning, just as the name suggests, means to win souls for the Lord. A soul winner, then, is an individual, a personal witness who attempts to bring people to Jesus Christ. What does that mean? To go out, tell people about the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, and spread the gospel so that hopefully more people can go to heaven. Though people might hate it, we are to warn people of their destination to an eternal lake of fire due to their sins, and tell them that Jesus died on the cross, shedding all of his precious blood, so that salvation can be readily accessible to those who will be willing to accept it. Dr. Ruckman describes it as “the attempt of a witness to get a person to ‘put their name on the dotted line.’” But do remember that when we soul win, God does the saving and not ourselves. We are simply tools that are being used by him. Also, souls will not get saved every time we soul win. Whether or not that soul gets saved, we are to do it anyway God takes care of the rest. Could we turn to, 1 Corinthians 3:7 please? This means that we do what we’re supposed to do, and if that person gets saved, fantastic, but if they don’t, God gives the increase or not. If we take a look a great big tree in Yosemite, they didn’t grow that tall in a matter of minutes. Souls are the same. Though they may not get saved at that very moment, we hope for the word of God to work in their hearts, and God will take care of however he wants to deal with that soul. 2. 2nd point, “Who should soul win?” We’re all saved here right? Just as someone had to tell us how to be saved, likewise us Christians should go out and win souls to the Lord. So all saved people should soul win. a) But. But. There are some qualifications and needed preparation. First and foremost as a sub-point A of who should soul win, is that the soul winner himself must be saved and sure of his salvation , as I mentioned before. If we are truly saved, then we perfectly know the reality of hell, as well as what it is not, and will want to tell people about it. we know that the Bible says it is an eternal lake of fire, where there will be gnashing of teeth and wailing, unsaved souls burning inside and out in total darkness. If the soul winner isn’t saved however, he will not be able to clearly convey the simplicity of salvation. He might instead depend on his feelings and experiences to try and soul win, rather than using the Bible. The bible says in Romans 10:17 that “faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” We are to depend on God’s word to put a
