Student Book page 116 117 Activity B Read the Friendship Chart in Figure 4.1 and the description that follows. These results are based on a survey of international students in Canada. In a small group, identify and discuss any surprising results from the chart. Answers will vary. Sample answer: It is encouraging to see a mix of friends for most students (34%) It is surprising to see a few students have only Canadian friends (7%). However, we don’t know how long the students who took the survey have been studying in Canada. Student Book page 117 Activity C Read and answer the two questions in the survey below about socializing, friendship, and meeting new people. Answer Yes or No for each question, and give a reason and an example to support your answer. Share your answers to with a partner, then work with your partner to create two more questions about socializing to add to the survey. If needed, ask your instructor for a survey sheet to write your questions on. Conduct your four-question survey with as many other students as you can in the class. Record your classmates’ responses. Ask follow -up questions, such as Why do you think that? or Can you give me an example? Write their reasons and examples in the chart as needed. Answers will vary.
