2 COURSE OVERVIEW Welcome to Community Health Nursing III. This is an exciting and practical course because it deals with the health of the communities around you. For you to understand the course effectively, you are expected to have studied nursing theories and professionalism. You will be expected to apply nursing theories while intervening for the families you will work with in this course. The course focuses on the nursing care of the populations and population aggregates, primarily in relation to preventive care. It introduces a distinctive dimension in which you are expected to understand concepts, theories and approaches for dealing with the community or community groups as the client. Emphasis is laid on the understanding of family nursing, nursing of population aggregates in schools and occupational settings as well as vulnerable population groups. This course content has been divided into seven topics arranged in 12 weeks of teaching in a trimester. In each of the topics, the content has been organised into lectures. You are going to find one or more lectures in each topic depending on the depth of the topic. There are 14 lectures
