Jasmine Phutornsri 10/24/2018 Lab 8 Impulse and Momentum Objective The purpose of this lab is to see the change in a carts momentum and comparing it to the impulses it receives. As well as comparing the average and peak forces of the impulses. Materials - Computer (Station # 1) - Creed Anderson (5) - Vernier computer interface - Logger pro - Vernier motion detector - Vernier force sensor - Cart and track - Ring stand - Elastic cord - String - 2 N calibration mass - Digital scale Preliminary Questions 1. In a car collision injury comes because of the force that is exerted from the driver’s body. The use of an airbag will allow the driver’s body to slow down which will cause the force exerted on the driver’s body to be less which will cause less injury. 2. A rubber ball will bounce back in the opposite direction this means that the change in momentum of the ball is greater compared to the clay. Because the clay will stay at rest if it is thrown toward the door. Procedure 1. Measure the mass of your dynamics cart, record in table A 2.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
