Answer the following questions in your paper: 1.What are the different styles of leadership, and the different power bases from which leadership and management characteristics devolve? 2.How can and should these leadership styles be applied in the workplace? If you want to give your business a good start toward success, it has to start with leadership. There are different leadership styles that can be uses to lead your business toward success. Each styles has its own set of good and not-so- good characteristics, and each uses leadership in a different way: The Autocrat - this type of leader is someone who dominates team members and should only be implemented when there is urgent situations. The Laissez-Faire - this leadership style is the opposite of the autocratic leadership type, focusing mostly on delegating many tasks to team members and providing little to no supervision. Should only be implemented when leading a team of highly motivated and skilled people. The Democrat - is a combination of the autocratic and laissez-faire types of leaders. A democratic leader is someone who asks for input and considers feedback from their team before making a decision. A good democratic leader encourages participation and delegates wisely, but never loses sight of the fact that they bear the crucial responsibility of leadership. They value group discussion and input from the team, and can be seen as drawing from a pool of the team members’ strong points in order to obtain the best performance from their team. Doesn’t matter which leadership styles you implemented, there are five keys to being an effective leader: 1. Focus In order to be a leader who people want to follow, you need to ensure that you are aware of the results you want to achieve and where you want to go. 2. Authenticity People like to follow those people who are always themselves. By being real, you can build the trust that people feel when working with you.
