Patel 1 dark room for years and years. She spent seven years in that dark room by herself. She never went outside to play, never had any human interaction, never being hug, never heard a human voice, never had anyone take care of her. She was extremely malnourished for her age “she weighed 46 pounds” (Degregory 2008). She was in a filthy room that had bugs in it, pile of diapers, and no clean clothes to wear. She was at a stage of neglect where she didn’t even know feel cold or hot. Dani faced many different type of “neglect like not having proper clothes to wear, fear of adults, fear of physical contact, extreme behavior” and all of this signs are signs of neglect (Feeldman pg 195). All this affected dani physical, cognitive, and language development. Dani’s neglected played a huge role in her physical development. Dani malnourished, weighing only 46 pounds. Dani’s “head, which seemed too big for her thin neck”. (Degregory 2008). Kids that are “six older old usually weighs about 46 pounds and stands 46 inches tall” (Feldman pg 160). Chronic malnutrition could lead to low IQ score an in dani’s cases she IQ score was below 50 “indicating mental retardation” (Degregory 2008). She lacked basic skills like “she didn’t know how to hold a doll” or couldn’t walk by herself ( Degregory 2008). Dani
