Sofia Rocha Period 0 9-16-18 Soda Pop From the internet, I chose a 1955 7-Up ad. It depicts a baby that is thirstily drinking from a 7-Up bottle. The title of the paragraph in the ad is, “Why we have the youngest customers in the business”. The paragraph then begins to explain why even babies can drink 7-Up. The theme of babies is explored throughout the paragraph and can be used as an example for all of the rhetorical strategies. This ad uses all three rhetorical strategies: logos, pathos, and ethos. The first sentence of the ad establishes logos by stating that the baby depicted is 11 years old. They also go on to say that they have customers even younger than that baby. It applies to the audiences’ intellect because one logically assumes that a child with an undeveloped brain would only be given healthy sustenance. Logos is used when the ad states that the ingredients are listed on the back of the 7-Up bottle. Going public with that information makes one believe they have nothing to hide in terms of unsafe products or ingredients.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
