CASE STUDY ON DEATH AND DYING 2 Case Study on Death and Dying Introduction Death comes to all and suffering and pain in this fallen world is inevitable to all including Christians. However, from the Christian perspective we must never lose hope about the fact that God is good and His love for us is everlasting as demonstrated by Him sacrificing His only begotten Son to die for us so that we might be reconnected with Him after our fall in the garden of Eden through our first parents Adam and Eve. In light of the End of life decisions facing George, we may think that we have an ethical dilemma, however, from clear Biblical perspective, we do not have any since euthanasia is not permitted as human life is sacred and comes from the breath of God so He alone should terminate it when He chooses. In retrospect and in line with the case study, euthanasia is against God’s will since if it were okay then perhaps, He would have been the first to execute euthanasia with Adam and Eve so that their offspring would not suffer the consequences of their disobedience that ends with death. In this sense, from a Christian perspective, euthanasia and assisted suicide are not allowed. Question One Based on the Christian perspective, George knows that we live in a fallen world and that pain, suffering and eventually death are the sure consequences of disobedience of Adam and Eve at the garden of Eden. As a result of their disobedience, sin pervaded every facet of the human life bringing pain and suffering through diseases, earthquakes, famine, accidents and other tragedies that harms or brings life to an abrupt end. If George does not lose faith in God then through his situation, he can get to know that suffering and pain of varying degrees comes to all including Christians. As such, George can opt to contemplate on the life of Job who although

Besides the material misfortune that had fallen him, he must have been in great physical pain as well as the Bible documents that when his friends visited him, for seven days they were dumbfounded wondering how to begin comforting him through the pain Keown, 2018). A remarkable point for George to copy from Job’s case is that he never cursed God as was suggested by his wife who believed after cursing God he would die and escape the unbearable pain he was going through. Subsequently, George’s case resembles Job’s suffering where it was
