Many people recognize the intrinsic value of a mushroom product in its original state. For example, beer growing the mushroom and selling them to people to eat adds value. In fact, by feeding on the mushroom already adds value to the mushroom farming. The contemporary market is shifting from the previous mentality of produce and sell. It is now crucial for every agri-business person to first, determine the major attributes that the consumers seek in their food products. After establishing these attributes, an individual can then create and manufacture products with all these attributes. In the case study, value-addition in mushroom production has a huge market given that it would meet the needs of many people. There are specific factors that enhance and increase the market for the mushroom grower in the case study. The value addition practice focuses on meeting the increased consumer demand for convenience, nutrition, and health. However, the available market does not guarantee that the mushroom farmer will succeed in re-launching the value added products. It must consider and utilize all the market management opportunities. These are the ways and techniques that the mushroom grower must use to set it apart from other mushroom producers who also engage in value addition. Creation of awareness of the new product is of great significance when launching a product. It is important to let the potential customers know about the new improvements and their significance to their health. Social media campaign is an example of a good market management strategy that the farmer could use to ensure people understand the new product. Value propositions Value proposition is the clear description of what makes the product unique from the customer’s perspective. In this case, the mushroom farmer focuses on the aspects that could make the customers to buy the new value added products over other available value-added mushrooms in the market.
