For an increasing number of organizations, hybrid clouds represent an ideal approach to capitalizing on the scalability of the public cloud and on-premises hardware. Is a hybrid cloud the right strategy for you? Maybe not. But there are many compelling reasons for a hybrid cloud that IT executives will want to consider before making a decision. This e-book serves as a tool for business leaders who are considering moving to a hybrid cloud model or are conducting more research into the pros and cons of hybrid cloud. According to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a hybrid cloud is “two or more distinct cloud infrastructures (private, community, or public) that remain unique entities, but are bound together by standardized or proprietary technology that enables data and application portability (e.g., geographically diverse global load balancing).” In other words, a hybrid cloud uses multiple cloud infrastructures that are orchestrated to run together to achieve a single task. Applications may be split up into private and public clouds, depending on the workload. What are the benefits of a hybrid cloud? Hybrid cloud is about optimizing workload resources in the best environment to get the lowest cost. Not all workloads belong in a single cloud architecture, or even the cloud. Pure cloud environments can offer various scalability, resiliency and security requirements, but the hardware limitations that come with private cloud and the difficulty
