Discuss the implications (at least 2 ) of the denial of innate ideas by Locke. How does Locke differentiate between primary qualities and secondary qualities? Answer: Locke believes we don’t have innate ideas based on that people generally accept basic ideas such as the principle of identity meaning “whatever is, is” and the principle of non-contradiction meaning “It is impossible for one and the same thing to be and not to be.” Locke agrees that what the principles are saying is true but based on reflecting on the nature of how ideas are in our mind and our mind will not allow people to think anything else. Primary qualities actually exist in our bodies themselves.
