Motivation McGregor and Theory X and Theory Y Theory X The human beings that doesn’t like to work and does everything to avoid it, need to be controlled, directed and threatened with sanctions to attain their goals. Sometimes people aren’t like that but want to be directed because they have little ambition, seek above all safety (e acima de tudo procuram segurança) and want to avoid responsibility. Theory Y Most people are not against to working, because, for them, working is as natural as rest or playing to people. That kind of people will exercise self-discretion (auto-descrição) and self-control and try to attain the goals established by the organizations, because they are committed to goals not just because of money but also because their self-respect, self-esteem and continuous self-development (they value achievement highly). Perspectives on Motivation and Psychological Contract Individuals do not act in isolation, but within a context that includes both immediate and wider elements: The job itself – how interesting, varied or responsible it is … The organization – supervision, career and promotion prospects, pay systems … The environment – career threats and opportunities … People have a psychological contract , which means that they have mutual unwritten expectations of each other. This is important because perceptions of (relative) justice in the treatment of people affect their behavior.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
