Decision Making A decision is a specific commitment to action (usually a commitment of resources). However, decision making is the process of identifying problems and opportunities and then resolving them. And it has a lot of stapes 1 : 1. Recognize the problem or opportunity 2. Set objectives 3. Set decision criteria - define the factors that are relevant to the decision Weight decision criteria - define criteria hierarchy 4. Develop alternatives - identify solutions to resolve a problem 5. Comparing alternatives Choose alternatives - Choose the best alternative 6. Implementing the choice - if the promoter involved others in the decision, they may be more willing to co-operate with the consequential changes 7. Evaluating the decision - looking back to see if the decision has resolved the problem and what can be learned. Decisions are structured, frequent and can be dealt (tratadas) with routinely (rotineiramente) by following established procedures, rules, policies... Programmed and Non-Programmed Decisions A non-programmed decision is a unique decision that requires a custom- made solution when information is unclear, vague or open to several interpretations.
