CHILDREN’S ABILITY IN KNOWING ENGLISH VOCABULARY THROUGH MEMORY GAME Fitriana Sari Khairma 1 , Dadan Suryana 2 Post graduate Student of Early Childhood Education Padang State University [email protected] ABSTRAK Learning English should be interesting and exiting for the early childhood students. Playing is a kind of activity to the children and which fun and can develope children imagination. Playing can develop students ability such as motor skills, cognitive, social, morals and language in communicating and so forth. In this paper, writer explain a new game for children’s ability in knowing english vocabulary. The game is named as memory game which invites the students to play together and make the students to remember the vocabulary that teacher provide at once. Keywords : Memory game , English vocabulary INTRODUCTION The National for the Educational of Young Children (NAEYC) defines early childhood education as education that serves children up to 8 years old for full and half-day activities either at home or outside institutions (Suryana, D., & Yulsyofriend, Y. 2012). Early childhood education finding optimally develop basic behaviors and abilities in children. To optimize these developments requires the suitability of education and character of children who have different knowledge. In early childhood, the child experienced the golden years (the golden years), when children begin to be sensitive to receive various stimuli. It is also a time for developing cognitive, physic motor, linguistic, socio-emotional, religion and moral skills. Children are small people who have potential and ability. All the children’s potential must still be developed optimally in order to develop the best. The child also has its own unique characteristics that are not the same as adults and will develop into a whole human adult. Children are learners who require a lot of physical exercise through indoor or outdoor activities (Suryana, 2013: 66). In short it can be said that the child is a human being or an individual who has different developmental patterns and needs with adults. Basically, children have the same general pattern of development that occurs in every child. However, the rhythm of development in each child is different from each other.
