THE DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN ARTICULATION DISORDERS IN AGE 5 YEARS Oleh: Fitriani Jambak Universitas Negeri Padang, Kampus UNP JI.Prof Hamka Air Tawar padang email: [email protected] Abstrac The purpose of writing this article is to observe articulation disorder in 5-year-old child Azka "who is suspected of having articulation disorder. Finally, the researchers observed the development of the language azka school and then communicate to his parents and make a visit home azka. The type of research used is qualitative by doing mini resource with case study approach. The study was conducted for 2 months from October to December 2017. Data collection techniques using observation, interview and documentation. The data collection tool uses observation format, interview and video format. Then the data were analyzed by using data analysis technique of Miles and Huberman by way of data reduction, presentation of data and conclusion from data obtained during the research. The result of the research showed that the child had an articulation problem in the pronunciation of the words shown by the teacher. Keywords: Early childhood, articulation disorder, Introduction Early childhood is a group of individuals aged between 0-8 years who are in a period of growth and development both physical and psychological (Sujiono, 2009). Growth and development of children between the ages of birth to eight years is a decisive moment because at this time important developments such as Physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development should begin stimulation at home, child care, other educational services. Each child requires different learning and developmental stimuli between one child and another (Suryana: 2014) Growth and development of the child is different because it is based by factors that influence such as heredity, environment and heredity. Some influences are rooted in heredity where genetic qualities are inherited from biological parents at conception. Other influences

come from many inner and outer environments where the outer world begins in the womb, and the learning gained from experience. Individual differences will increase with age. Many fundamental changes in early infancy and childhood seem to relate directly to the maturity of the body and brain, namely the opening of natural phases of physical changes and behavior patterns, including the readiness to master a new capability such as language. Language learning is like any other learning, based on experience (Skinner in Papalia, 2008) Language is the communication system that uses words and grammar (Papalia: 1990). With language we can communicate based on grammar and cognitive development. Language as a communication instrument plays a role in conveying messages from speakers to listeners.
