Factor Endowments Apple Inc. has and continues to be one of the most popular and successful technology companies of today. An article in The New York Times states that “Apple and other leading technology firms use China as a ‘low-cost- workshop’ for realizing their product designs” (Hesse, n.d.). By outsourcing manufacturing to other countries, Apple is able to save money on the manufacturing process. As for labor, Apple has highly skilled employees working out of Silicon Valley in the U.S. where they work on the designs and prototypes for new products, and they are then sent abroad to be manufactured. Because Apple does not own factories, but rather rents them, they have a competitive edge because they are saving money by renting, rather than owning. This ensures that they can move around without being tied to one particular place, and therefore Apple can go to where natural resources are plentiful, such as glass for the touch screen, plastic for cases and silicon for the chipset (Hesse, n.d.). As for entrepreneurship, Apple is in good hands with Steve Jobs as its leader, where the company has and continues to be one of the top ranked technology companies in the world. Apple has the competitive edge above other companies with a leader like Jobs, who is innovative and persistent in making Apple a leader in the entrepreneurial category. Overall, Apple has a competitive advantage over other companies in regards to land, labor, capital, and entrepreneurship, and this can be seen in the success of sales of a wide variety of products as well as the increasing revenue and sales each year (Apple Annual Report, 2018).

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
