PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY OF NURSING 2 Personal Philosophy of Nursing It is worth mentioning that philosophy is the attitude towards life or one's thoughts or beliefs towards specific issues and the reality that evolves each belief. It is not easy to figure out one's philosophy of nursing without first figuring out what nursing means to a person. Philosophy is basically a personal view or opinion that is influenced by various aspects of the development of a nurse and the educational background. In essence, my personal philosophy began when I attempted to answer questions like what is nursing, why it is important to me, and what benefits is it to the people in the society. My viewpoint of nursing combines my understanding of medicine with interpersonal compassion and care for people with respect for the pride of all clients. I accept as true that nursing care ought to be all-inclusive and at the same time honor patient values. I believe that nursing is based on collaborative efforts among healthcare professionals in order to promote quality patient care and interprofessional relationships (Morton, Fontaine, Hudak & Gallo, 2017). Additionally, my philosophy of nursing extends further to the community in I will continually strive for the promotion of health. Since I was young, I always wanted to help different people with different needs in my community. This overwhelming desire I believe has ultimately led to the choice of a career in nursing. I am most fulfilled and contented when I care and serve other people who need my help most in the society. Therefore, from the desire I have always had, I believe that my personal nursing philosophy is one that is based on service and compassion for the other people in the society. As a result, to come up with an all-inclusive personal attitude to nursing, I will explore the values I feel are essential in relating to the health professionals, the patients, the people’s culture and my culture as a whole.
