EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION 2 An employee orientation program refers to the process of introducing a new employee to their new responsibilities in the organization and even to introduce them to the new workplace and his/her new co-workers. The main benefits of employee orientation are that it helps the employee to feel welcome and at the same time, it reduces the anxiety of the new employee since the whole place is like new to him. Also, employee orientation is beneficial since it motivates the employee such that he/she feels energized to start at a high gear aimed at meeting his responsibilities. This paper will concentrate on the restaurant manager orientation. A restaurant manager is usually tasked with managing the daily day to day operation of the restaurant. First, the restaurant manager is supposed to coordinate and even supervise other employees working under him/her ( Murphy, DiPietro, Kock & Lee, 2011 ). Second, the restaurant manager is supposed to maintain an inventory for all the food and equipment in the restaurant and at the same time, he is supposed to keep track of the budget of the restaurant. Lastly, he/she is supposed to ensure that the restaurant meets the standard set by the health and safety regulation. The job requirements, The main job requirement for a restaurant manager is that the organization require an employee who has proven work experience as a restaurant manager or a role that is similar. The restaurant manager should possess extensive food and beverage knowledge and he/she is familiar working with restaurant management software such as the OpenTable or even the PeachWorks. Third, the restaurant manager should have strong leadership and motivational skills because he/she will coordinate and supervise other employees working in the restaurant. Also, the restaurant manager should have intermediate financial skills and he/she should possess a BSc. Degree in Business Administration since this will be an added advantage for the organization to recruit the restaurant manager.
