26 MART SM Basic Types of Processes (devam ediyor geçen dersten) Project type examples; all types of consulting services, car washing by hand Line (Assembly Line) (flow shop): Short duration, high volume, standard product . Standardized services, routine sequencing and line balancing. Line balancing: Line balancing is leveling the workload across all processes in a cell or value stream to remove bottlenecks and excess capacity. For example, in a cafeteria, video tray; you have to walk down to each station, even if you don’t want to take any of what is offered in that stations. Other examples: Automated car washing (dönen şeyler) (standardized), all cafeterias, subway, mcdonalds, burgerking (at the back) **Don’t think about volume, duration etc., think about the way, the steps which the services offered. Continuous: Critical issue in here is deployment of service resources, it is the coverage area of the service (the nearest ambulance to the nearest hospital). And, the measure of performance is travel time to customer. Examples: Utility services, emergency services (hospitals, fire), ambulance service (112) Process Selection Steps must be arranged in a logical sequence . (But they are not always, of course) For example; in many cafeterias, the order of food is different. How it should be? We should start to put cold dishes first and warm dishes after. Capacity at each step must be balanced to minimize bottlenecks (especially in line) Certain steps can be eliminated, or process shortened by paralleling steps **Especially in governmental services, there are always unnecessary steps; approval, stamp(damga) etc., remove if possible. And, think about cafeterias again, you may use two servers instead of one at bottleneck stations so, that means paralleling steps. Another example; think about cafeterias again, for warm food, usually they serve you, they put it on your plate and hand it open. That is usually a bottleneck because it takes longer than your picking up something. So, two servers, instead of one. That is what I mean by paralleling steps here.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
