Mark Stone College Writing 125.209 Fritz Swanson 7/23/07 [email protected] My Escape To Freedom Sitting in the Arb, in the same spot, brings me back to my initial reality, which I thought I had lost. Being surrounded by the same vivid trees and sprouting flowers slows life down to a tangible point. I come to realize what the true meaning of the Arb is and that the answer lies within me. Everyone has a different perception of the Arb, which makes the place so unique. Not only do people find a connection with the nature present, but find a connection back to themselves. The Arb enables one to be themselves. As I was sitting I noticed many new things. People were active on all sides. Kids were playing and enjoying life. The kids were playing tag and running away from each other, breaking out in laughter. A group of runners made several laps around one of the several loops of the Arb, as they stopped and caught their breath after each lap. Two middle age men had booties on and were fly-fishing in the river rejoicing every moment they spent with each other. Across the river was group of men and women smoking out of a pipe, as they were not concerned of what people thought. After observing one part of the Arb I walked back towards the entrance and noticed that a cemetery runs along one
