Lupus also known as SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus) is a serious inflammatory disease that can affect anyone, the cause is not known, but the immune system attacks its own healthy tissues and cells by mistake. It can affect and damage many parts of the body such as the joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart, and lungs, and symptoms vary from person to person, but can include fatigue, joint pain, rash, and fever, which can occasionally get worse and then improve. It is most often diagnosed in young women, between the ages of 15 and 45 years old. Effective treatments focus on improving quality of life through controlling symptoms and minimizing flare-ups like: lifestyle modifications, including sun protection and diet (WebMD 2005 – 2017). Other management includes medications, such as anti-inflammatories and steroids. The treatment will depend on how severe the symptoms are, and whether organs are involved. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs ( NSAIDs ), such as ibuprofen or naproxen , can usually help you ease both of those problems. Some medications used to treat
