1Professor Newman 1302 Composition IIOctober 23, 2019On Running After One’s HatG.K. Chesterton, “On Running After One’s Hat” is a nice read that tells a story of escape and learning to be optimistic. At the beginning of the essay Chesterton talks about how his hometown was flooded when he was away and so he starts to reminisce on how much beauty the town had. Instead of getting upset about his hometown being flooded he turns to a more optimistic point of view on things. He finds it more convenient to act like a child and see things of inconvenience through a child’s eye. The essay goes on to talk about how an optimist person don’t just see positive in positive situations they also find the positive in a nonpositive situation. Chesterton uses an example to get his point across. the first example he uses is a little boy at a train station. As most adults at train stations do not like waiting and are impatient, but through a little boys’ eyes he doesn’t mind waiting. He likes to look at the flashing lights are like the sun
