Chapter 3 3.1- Solving Equations by Adding and Subtracting 3.2- Solving Equations by Multiplying and Dividing 3.3-Solving Two- Step Equation 3.4- Solving Multistep Equations 3.5- Using the Distributive Property 3.6- Using Formulas and Literal Equations Rational Expression
Subtraction Property of Equality- For all real numbers a, b, c, if a=b, then a-c=b-c. Subtraction equal amounts from each side of an equation results in an equivalent equation. Addition Property of Equality- For all real numbers a, b, c, then a+c=b+c Adding equal amounts from each side of an equation results in an equivalent equation. The Division Property of Equality- For all real numbers a, b, c, if a=b and c, if a =b and c= 0, then a/c=b/c. Dividing each side of an equation by equal amounts results in an equivalent equation. The Multiplication Property of Equality- For all real numbers a, b, c, if a= b, then ac=bc. Multiplying each side of an equation by equal amounts results in an equivalent equation.
