Forty overweight participants are randomly allocated to either: Treatment 1: Treatment 2: Treatment 3: Treatment 4: weighed daily; counselling; behavioural program; behaviour program plus money incentive. The dependent variable is the average weight change (in kilograms) over a 6 month period, defined as current weight previous weight (such that a negative score indicates weight loss in kilograms). The sample means and SSE are as follows ( J = 4, n = 10, N = 40): T1 T2 T3 T4 M j -2 -3 -8 -11 M = -6 SSE = 838 With equal n’s, t he coefficients of the maximal contrast max ˆ ( ) are deviation means, c j = M j M, such that: c 1 = M 1 M c 2 = M 2 M c 3 = M 3 M c 4 = M 4 M (a) For the above data set, what is the maximal contrast? Is this contrast interpretable? If

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
