1. Explain the purpose of a grievance policy and procedure within a workplace and give a summary of the steps that could be followed to address grievances. (200 words) How to raise a grievance at work If you tried to resolve your grievance informally and this approach did not work, you should raise the matter formally. You should do this using your employer's formal procedures for grievances (if your employer doesn't have a formal procedure the LRA Code of Practice provides the necessary guidance). Your employer should put their grievance procedures in writing. You should be able to find these in one one of the following: 1. company handbook 2. human resources (HR) or personnel manual 3. HR intranet site 4. employment contract At the very least your employer must give you in writing the name of the person that you can apply to, to seek redress (put the matter right). To comply with the Code, your employer's grievance procedure is likely to include the following steps: 1. writing a letter to your employer setting out the details of your grievance 2. a meeting with your employer to discuss the issue 3. the ability to appeal your employer's decision 2. Describe the key provisions of the Fair Work Act 2009 The key features of the Fair Work system are: They govern the employee / employer relationship in Australia. They provide a safety net of minimum entitlements, enable flexible working arrangements and fairness at work and prevent discrimination against employees. Fair Work Act 2009 also a guideline for every business, doesn’t matter what are they industry every business or organisation must comply with the legislation and obligation. 3. Outline the key employment conditions addressed by the National Employment Standards. Maximum weekly hours Requests for flexible working arrangements Parental leave and related entitlements Annual leave Personal/carer's leave, compassionate leave and unpaid family and domestic violence leave Community service leave Long service leave Public holidays Notice of termination and redundancy pay Fair Work Information Statement 4. Explain the process of enterprise bargaining. (100 words) A bargaining representative for a proposed enterprise agreement may apply to the Fair Work
