Martin Luther wrote this book when the civil war was at the pick in America; this was in the year 1963, 24th April. Clergymen when to the streets and addressed the public, saying that the protest by King Luther was promoting hatred as well as violence, so they should be stopped. Clergymen were against the use of nonviolent disobedient to obtain the civil rights of black persons in Birmingham. Before Clergyman was through with his speech, King was already in the jail in Birmingham, this man believes in negotiations between the white bands the black. King was arrested for protesting, in prison he wrote the book ‘'letter from a Birmingham jail'' this letter was for clergymen to be informed that King was not intimidated by being in prison, he wanted him to know he had the right to be in prison, it was just. It had he had a moral reason for his actions. King Luther, in his letter, was out to push the black people to continue having nonviolence demonstrations to be heard and white to stop mistreating them. King uses rhetorical tools to persuade all the people, including the Americans, that he had a right to influence people to go for peaceful demonstrations.
