Why do Christianity rely on such an ancient writing? You cannot really understand the religion and why it looks the way it does today unless you have a window into interpretation. Movement from oral to written material. Standardizing what was taught, There was a lot of writing that needed to be divided into what would be used and what gets rejected. As the people who actually knew Jesus or knew people who knew Jesus started to die out, anyone who stood up to say "this is what Christianity is supposed to be" and for as long as it was convincing, people believed. As counter movements started to come out, they had to figure out what Jesus actually taught. Another key thing started to happen, Christians started to get prosecuted for various reasons. Christians were quite adamant about giving their allegiance to God and to Jesus but not the emperor. Christians believed in Christianity so much that were willing to die for it (and many Christians did die for it) but the question was , They needed to be sure that they were dying for what Jesus actually said. That what they believed in was aligned with what Jesus said. The prosecution forced the need to limit the options to the authentic sayings These two factors played a role in pushing the concept of narrowing down what writing would be included in the new testament.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
