Bhatti 1 Hanan Bhatti Professor Robert Curran ENC 1101 April 5 th , 2017 A New Dimension Separated by thousands of miles in distance yet still closer to each other. Professor Tim Berners Lee’s brainchild was the World Wide Web, a system for publishing information over the internet. The world’s first ever website, created by Berners Lee, made its debut as a publicly available service on the internet and now today more than 2.5 billion people use the web. It’s hard to imagine what life would be like without it as now people don’t even need a computer to access it as they can do so via their smartphone too, making it easier than ever to get online. In an interview with Neil Clark of express.co.uk, Co-founder of lastminute.com Martha Lane Fox says, “The web has transformed the way we work, play and interact with each other” (Clark). Before this revolutionary invention, people relied on to the newspapers for the things like current happenings and classified advertisements. Now all they must do is just open the web site. Doing business in old time was bit slow and hectic as company owners had to be present physically for every meeting and decision making process, but with the help of internet, they can do their business dealings from the comfort of their own bedrooms. Invention of internet was a form of human evolution that opened countless virtual doors and made life simpler as now people can access a world of information, do business from home, look for a job, make friends and stay in touch, shop and many more activities which required tiring physical work to do. Watching an old film and want to find out if the actor appearing in it is still alive? Or perhaps you are watching a wildlife program and want to learn more about the African big cats.
