September 13, 2019 EXPH1904 Laboratory Exercise #2 One Repetition Maximum (1-RM) Carson Lewis Necessary Equipment: Free weight bench, barbell, weight plates, dumbells, leg press machine, seated hamstring curl machine Objective: To determine the one repetition maximum, or the most amount of weight that can be done for one rep, of the participant in the bench press, arm curl, leg press, and leg curl Methods: Participant performed all lifts in a circuit manner, being sure to observe proper technique for the respective exercises. Beginning with a weight that was known to be very easy, the participant did five repetitions on each of the exercises, followed by three repetitions, then two repetitions, and finally a one repetition maximum.
