SUMMARY Much of our individual health is affected by our lifestyle and personal habits. A healthy lifestyle should be balanced between physical and mental perspectives. In this report, we would like to introduce an overview of a healthy lifestyle and what to do to lead a healthy life. A balanced and nutritious diet is discussed first with six basic nutrients (carbohydrates, lipids, protein, vitamins and minerals and water) and their proper portions for each one. Fitness activities are examined in the second part of the body of the report. The benefits as well as specific examples of physical exercises are gone through in this session to raise our awareness on our body and mental health. Some bad habits such as smoking, drinking alcohol, eating junk food that may reap to poor health are also analyzed later on to help raise awareness on our healthy lifestyle. I. Introduction Health is one of the most concerned topics that may be discussed everyday on every websites, magazines or TV programs. Nevertheless, how many of us are aware of the importance of maintaining a good health unless we got sick; or how much we can follow and carry out those pieces of advice in our real life. II. Body According to WHO (the World Health Organization), “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”. In this report, we would like to discuss some practical ways how to lead a healthy lifestyle. There are some great factors that affects your body health. The three main tips below may help to keep your body in good health. Have a balanced diet Participate in physical fitness Avoid harmful habits 1. Have a balanced diet a. Six classes of nutrients and proper proportions We eat food to meet our physiological needs. In other words, food supplies us with enough energy and calories for our daily activities. Mike Adams- a Consumer Health Advocate, surprisingly quoted that “Today, 95% of all chronic disease is caused by food choice, toxic food ingredients, nutritional deficiencies…” In other words, a healthy eating provides all the nutrients that an individual needs to function, in the proper balance in order to promote good health and prevent diseases.[CITATION Mik181 \l 1033 ]. In the research of “The psychology of Eating”, Jane Ogden has classified food into six classes of nutrients.
